""Management is the process by which a
person can effectively organize, direct, and bring together a host
of qualified individuals in order to carry out a plan, either
conceived by or implemented for the eventual achievement of a
successful business operation""
From this we learn that a manager is responsible for every facet of
the business that falls under his or her purview. This includes, but
is not limited to:
- setting goals for the company;
- making decisions on a daily basis;
- time management; hiring;
- invoking a team atmosphere;
- conducting meetings;
- seeing to it that the work flow is carried out with efficiency and
diligence.
The key to good management is organization. The ability to assign
jobs to staff members who will effectively produce the outcome
desired; that each staff member has the tools needed to carry out
the assignments; that each staff member understands the significance
of his or her role in the company; and that working together as a
team is essential to achieve the goals set.
Without direction, the staff members can lose focus. It is important
to keep everyone on track and to ensure the tasks given are
performed and carried out on a daily basis. This is not to say that
micro-management is necessary; in fact, it can become a road block
on the path to success. What is important is for management to
ensure the mission of the company is being followed according to the
plan. When problems arise, a contingency plan must always be in
place for management to correct and adjust any unforeseen situation.
In order to effectively achieve success in any company, management
must have a plan which has been fully cultivated. It must have a
staff that are not only qualified, but understand the mission of the
company and are committed to its goals. It must have the latest
technology available to be able to increase production and
streamline the daily process. More importantly, however, management
must be able to keep its employees on track; flexible enough to make
changes when needed; and always open to new ideas which may increase
the company’s overall success. Links
